What coaching is about and how I work as a coach
If you wish to understand better what I do as a coach, here is a short text explaining it in simple words. I thought it would be good to start my blog with this very topic. I hope it will help you make a decision whether you want to work with the coach.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a creative partnership with your client, focusing on designing and implementing specific, meaningful changes in your client’s personal and/or professional life.
Coaching focuses on setting goals, creating outcomes and managing personal change. Professional coach helps you remove barriers towards the desired changes.
During a coaching session I actively listen (this is focused, in-depth listening) to what you say and ask efficient questions. Thanks to using these core skills the coach supports the client and helps him grow. The coach also helps to become aware of what is happening in your life and better understand the cause-and-effect relationships. The coach focuses on what’s important for you, suggests to act, helps make the decision and gives you the room for thought. The coach also helps you continue your search and your development as well as informs, inspires, supports and recognizes your achievements.
Why Life Stylist?
The title of my project – Life Stylist – is inspired by my work with the fashion stylist. They say that your true style in fashion is when your clothes is your second skin. That is, when it reveals and matches the character of the person. Well, it does not always happen this way.
In our life some things might also not suit us well. Quite often we graduate from the school we were not particularly willing to go to, we do the job we do not like that much, we are in relationship with the “wrong” person etc. Where am I in all of this? Is this really my lifestyle? What do I really want? Yes, I want to change, but changes are scaring, so what shall I do? Working with the professional coach is one of the ways to help you find answers to these question
Your own lifestyle is when you suit yourself. That is, when you:
• do the job you like,
• are in relations with the person that is well suited for you,
• master your financial and other resources the way you want.
I am sure you will agree that these are the core three spheres where the balance and satisfaction are so important for us. I deal with requests related specifically to these spheres.
As a life stylist and a coach I help you discover your inner strength, become aware of your desires, actual goals and start living according to them. In other words, be more satisfied, inspired and happy.
How do I work as a coach?
The relations between the coach and the client are based on partnership, first of all. Our communication during the coaching session is free from any assessments, judgments or advice.
Unlike therapists or counselors, I don’t focus on the childhood or past experiences that might be the root of the way a person lives or feels. Instead I assist clients to get clear on what they want in the future – their goals, why they want it, and how they are going to achieve it.
Unlike consultants, who diagnose the needs of an individual and offer their own solutions based on their specialized expertise to ‘fix’ the problem, I use tools and process to assist clients to generate their own solutions and then hold them accountable for following through.
Someone new to coaching might hear the word “coach” and think sport, but sports coaches generally are in charge of setting the goals and the path to victory. Teaching, correcting, and managing are all skills a sports coach would use. Professional life coaching is the opposite, it’s not me, but you who sets the goals.
Here is the proverb I like a lot: “You will not tell yourself the words that will help you”. It is my core skill to find such words for you. By doing this I assist my clients. It also brings me a lot of joy. If you like what I wrote in this post and you want to achieve meaningful changes in your life, write me an e-mail or give me a call. I will do my best to find these words for you.
